BTCC

The British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) was new to the club for 2017, open to any of Scalextric’s new range of contemporary cars from the British Touring Car Championship.

In 2017 it was a two round, non-championship series to enable us to try out software settings ahead of the class being promoted to a full-championship in the 2018 season.

Format:

RCS64 Software used, with tyre and weather simulation. Each entrant competes in five races, three of which are run on hard tyres, while the remaining two are on soft compound tyres. Cars shod with hard tyres are slower at start of the race but last much longer. Cars with soft tyres are faster at the start of the race, but they will degrade quickly if used aggressively.

Race grid/start positions for each race will be drawn at the start of each nights event. Drivers then designate which tyre compound (hard or soft) they will use in each race.

Weather

Prior to each race, dice are rolled to decide what the weather will be doing during the race. The ‘weather dice’ will decide upon either a wet or dry race, or a mixed weather race; either starting wet and then drying, or starting dry and then interrupted by rain.

For wet races all cars will change to full wets before race commences. In mixed races, all drivers will start on Inters, and when changing to slicks they must use their designated hard/soft tyre for that race.

Remember: pit stops are not compulsory if drivers think they can continue on your existing tyres.

25 lap races with points awarded for position:

1st – 20
2nd – 17
3rd – 15
4th – 13
5th – 11

One point is also awarded for the fastest lap in each race.
